DAT101M - Data Visualization
Data visualization is one of the essential aspects of data analysis and communication in today’s data-driven society. Visualization allows people to use perception to understand better data presented to them. Through effective visualization, people can help engage more audiences in various analyses and decision-making.
This course is designed to provide students with the fundamental concepts of visualization design and interactive visualizations to allow them to design and create compelling visualizations. In addition, graduate students are also trained to critique, review and provide recommendations towards designing interactive visualizations and compelling data stories. It will include lectures and technical applications using visualization tools such as Plotly Dash. The students are expected to have a basic background in Python programming or at least data cleaning and preparation techniques to proceed with this course. Basic knowledge of, or willingness to learn, web technologies and Javascript will be helpful in this course.
